Our Practice

We have been running a private practice for ten years. This practice has been an expansive journey, encompassing work with individuals, couples, and families across a broad spectrum of ages. Each client brings a unique set of experiences and needs, and adapting to these has allowed me to explore and deepen my understanding of various psychological theories and therapeutic approaches.

Our practice is deeply informed by the belief in the transformative power of a holistic therapeutic approach, one that acknowledges the intricate interplay between mind, body, spirit, and social connections. Whether we’re working with young adults as they carve out their place in the world, individuals navigating the complexities of their relationships, or adults seeking to strengthen their bonds, our focus is always on facilitating growth, healing, and stronger connections.

About Colleen

My journey into the world of psychotherapy began with my graduation from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2015, a milestone that marked the start of a deeply rewarding and evolving career path. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of cultivating my therapeutic practices both within agencies and in the broader community, allowing me to reach and support a diverse clientele.

One of the cornerstones of my early professional experience was my work at AIM House, a transitional program for young adults, where I’ve contributed for over six years. This program is uniquely designed to empower young people as they navigate the critical transition to adulthood. My role involved guiding them in developing the necessary ego strength to embrace independence while maintaining meaningful connections and fostering a sense of community. This work extended to supporting their families, facilitating the individuation process through parent coaching, and conducting extensive family systems work from an attachment-focused perspective.

Colleen’s Services

The diversity of my work—from helping young adults find their footing in an often-uncertain world to supporting individuals in navigating their challenges—has been a profound source of professional fulfillment. It has not only enabled me to assist others in their journeys of self-discovery and healing but has also contributed significantly to my own growth as a therapist. My commitment to this work is fueled by a continuous desire to learn, evolve, and contribute to the well-being of those I have the honor to work with.

About Maggie

One of the things I love most about therapy is its highly relational nature. In the therapeutic relationship, we build a connection that is safe, trusting, and non-judgmental, a place where authentic self is revealed, needs are recognized, and big questions are explored with softness and clarity. A graduate of Naropa University’s Nature-Based Counseling program, one of my passions as a therapist is to invite clients into healthy connection with the systems which support and intersect with our lives. Much of my previous life experience involved farming and community development, and this passion for healthy, interconnected systems continues to serve as a touchstone for my role as a psychotherapist. The balance of this perspective is also discovering the spark to empower internal change and reach for new solutions or strategies when our old, adaptive patterns no longer serve.

Maggie’s Credentials

Maggie holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and Environmental Studies from St. Lawrence University, earned in 2009, where she developed a deep appreciation for interconnected systems and meaningful communication. She later pursued her passion for counseling and nature-based healing by earning a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Nature-Based Therapy from Naropa University in 2024. This unique educational background blends her understanding of human connection, environmental stewardship, and therapeutic practices, equipping her to support clients through a holistic and integrative approach to mental health and well-being.

Maggie’s Services

Maggie provides specialized services for children, focusing on fostering self-awareness, emotional regulation, and a healthy mind-body connection. Guided by the perspective that early therapeutic relationships can significantly impact a child’s growth, Maggie uses Synergetic Play Therapy to create a supportive and non-directive environment. This approach emphasizes nervous system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, and authenticity, allowing children to feel seen and understood. Through creative play, Maggie helps children process emotions, develop communication skills, and build resilience. Her work empowers children to answer essential questions like “Do I belong? Am I OK? What can I do?” while opening the door to a deeper understanding of themselves and their emotional world.

Maggie’s Nature-Based Therapy

Nature-based therapy is a broad psychotherapeutic approach centered on a belief that we are a part of a much larger, diverse, and interdependent system. There are many approaches to nature-based therapy, which can be as simple as nature-based mindfulness practices or could include more complex interventions such as horticultural and animal-assisted therapy, or rites of passage work. The beauty of a nature-based approach is that we are not separate from nature, and therefore we can always find a way to scale and incorporate nature into our sessions. Often, for those with deep attachment wounds or severe and persistent mood disorders, nature provides a safe and gentle space to explore relationship, needs, self-esteem, and identity without the some of the pressures that can exist in human-to-human relationships.
